Specialty
We specialize in Knee, Hip and Hand Surgery. Dr. Hall will see patients with shoulder, hip, knee, ankle pain and general orthopaedics excluding back pain and foot pain. Dr. Degnan will see patients with hand, forearm and elbow pain.

Our Physicians
John N. Hall, M.D.
Dr. Hall was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He attended college at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. He attended medical school at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. His internship (in general surgery) was at Bowman-Gray, North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, North Carolina. His residency (in orthopaedics) was at Atlanta Medical Center. Dr. Hall’s fellowship (in hip and knee replacement) was at the University of Virginia. His specialty is in General Orthopaedics and Hip and Knee Replacement. He is American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery Certified. He is married and has three beautiful children. His interests include cycling, camping and cooking.

 

Gregory G. Degnan, M.D.
Dr. Degnan was born in Groton, Connecticut. He attended college at Wesleyan. He attended medical school at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. His internship and residency were at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia. Dr. Degnan’s fellowship was at Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Hand and Microvascular Surgery. His specialty is Hand and Microvascular Surgery. He is American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery Certified. He is married and has six beautiful children. His interests include weight lifting, snowboarding and wake boarding.
Appointments
Patients are seen by appointment only. Our office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. If you are a new patient, please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to complete paperwork and process insurance information. Patient information forms are available on this site and may be printed, completed, and brought to your appointment. If you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment, please notify our office at least 24 hours in advance.

Please bring all related x-ray, MRI, CT films and medication lists with you to your appointment so we may make a complete assessment of your condition. If you were seen at Martha Jefferson Hospital Emergency Department or Martha Jefferson Urgent Care Center, it is not necessary to bring the films with you as we can access them via intranet.

If you have an emergency after hours, please dial 911. If you have a problem of a less serious nature, please call our office at 434-220-3727, obtain our answering service phone number, and they will assist you in locating the physician on call.

Prescription Refills
Medication refills are handled during office hours. If a refill is needed, call our office with the medication name, dosage, pharmacy name and phone number. Narcotic medications are not refilled after hours or on weekends.
Fees and Insurance
There are several options for payment of professional services. We accept Cash, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. We participate with several insurance companies which include but are not limited to: Aetna, Anthem, Medicare, Medicaid (Straight ONLY), Cigna, Southern Health, Optima Health (Martha Jefferson Hospital policy ONLY), VHN, Chickering, Tricare and select Workmen’s Compensation Companies. Please contact our office to see if we participate with your insurance company. For plans in which we participate, we will file a claim on your behalf. You will be responsible for the co-payment and/or deductible at your visit as well as any other applicable fees (i.e. bracing, patient balances, medical records charge, etc.)
